Madame Web Movie Short Review

Madame Web Movie Short Review

"Madame Web" aspires to be a classic superhero origin film, exploring how Cassie Webb, a paramedic and the future Madame Web, grapples with her newfound clairvoyant abilities. Rooted in comic book mythology dating back to 1980, the character is known for aiding Peter Parker and sits atop a web throne to sustain her elderly, blind existence.

The film also delves into the origins of other Spider-Women portrayed by Julia Cornwall, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor. However, the narrative struggles with strained connections and repetitiveness, despite Dakota Johnson's compelling performance.

The supervillain, Ezekiel Sims, lacks depth, making the overall story feel stitched together rather than a cohesive collaboration. While Johnson's charisma adds watchability, the movie falls short in justifying its somewhat silly plot. The long-term vision the studio seems to be pursuing might face challenges given the movie's shortcomings.
