VIVO V30 5G REVIEW

VIVO V30 5G REVIEW

The Vivo V30 has been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 33,999 for two variants: the regular V30 and the top-end V30 Pro. After using the V30 (12GB RAM + 256GB) for a week, here are my impressions of Vivo's latest premium Android phone.

Design, Build Quality, and Display

The V30 boasts a sleek design with a curved screen that extends almost to the mid-rim of the frame on both sides. The back features a rectangular camera module vertically aligned with a unique square-shaped aura LED flash setup.

The device is
remarkably slim and lightweight, measuring just 7.45mm thick and weighing 186g. I tested the Peacock Green variant, which exhibits a captivating color-changing effect under sunlight, transitioning from dark emerald green to dark ocean blue.

The Fluorite AG (Anti-Glare) Glass on the rear panel repels fingerprints effectively. The phone's Schott Xensation α (alpha) glass shield protects the front screen against scratches, while the custom aluminum alloy frame enhances durability.

The IP54 rating ensures resistance to water splashes. Vivo includes a free soft transparent silicone cover case in the retail box to safeguard the device from accidental drops.

Display

The V30 features a 6.78-inch full HD+ (2800×1260p) AMOLED screen with a 20:9 aspect ratio, HDR10+ support, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The AMOLED panel delivers vibrant colors and excellent viewing angles, while the high refresh rate ensures a smooth browsing experience.

The display also incorporates an eye comfort feature to reduce blue light emission and a responsive in-display fingerprint sensor.

Performance

Powered by the 4nm class Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 octa-core processor with Adreno 720 GPU, the V30 offers 8GB / 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB / 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.

The device delivers smooth performance across various tasks, including multitasking, camera operation, video streaming, and gaming. The large vapor cool chamber and 11 temperature sensors ensure efficient heat dissipation to prevent overheating.

The 'Extended RAM' feature doubles physical memory, resulting in faster app loading and smoother multitasking. The device runs on Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14 and offers ample storage for apps and media content.

Battery and Connectivity

The V30 houses a 5,000mAh battery that provides more than a day of usage on a single charge, even with heavy usage. The included 80W fast charger can fully charge the device in under 50 minutes.

The phone supports dual nano-SIM slots with 5G connectivity and features a base speaker for immersive audio output. It offers dual-band Wi-Fi (2.5GHz + 5GHz) and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity but lacks NFC support.

Photography

Equipped with a dual-camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP portrait camera, the V30 delivers exceptional photography performance.

The Vivo Camera-Bionic Spectrum (VCS) technology ensures accurate color reproduction, while the aura LED flash enhances portrait photography in various lighting conditions. The device excels in capturing fine details and natural skin tones, even in low-light environments.

Final Thoughts

The Vivo V30 offers a premium smartphone experience with its sleek design, vibrant display, smooth performance, and impressive camera capabilities. It stands out in the mid-range segment with its innovative design elements and reliable performance.

With competitive pricing starting at Rs 33,999 for the base variant and Rs 41,999 for the top-end V30 Pro model, Vivo aims to cater to diverse consumer preferences in India.
