Sheffield United vs Brighton and Hove Albion Premier League Match Results February 2024

Sheffield United suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton at Bramall Lane, with defender Mason Holgate receiving a red card in the 13th minute for a reckless tackle on Kauro Mitoma.

This expulsion contributed to the historic feat of Sheffield United becoming the first top-division team to concede five or more goals in three consecutive home games.

Facundo Buonanotte opened the scoring from a corner, followed by Danny Welbeck's emphatic strike four minutes later. Ben Osborn's goal for Sheffield United was disallowed for offside just before halftime. In the second half, Brighton dominated, with Jack Robinson's own goal and Simon Adingra's precise finish securing two more goals in quick succession.

Adingra's late deflected effort marked Brighton's fifth goal and Sheffield United's 65th goal conceded this season, setting a Premier League record after 25 games. This defeat leaves Sheffield United seven points from safety, while Brighton climbs to seventh in the standings.
