Czech Republic's Krystyna Pyszkova Wins Miss World 2024

Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic emerged victorious as Miss World 2024 during a grand event held in Mumbai. Sini Shetty, the Indian contestant, reached the top 8, while Miss Lebanon, Yasmina Zaytoun, secured the first runner-up position.

The reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska from Poland, crowned Pyszkova, who became the second Miss World from the Czech Republic after Tatana Kucharova's win in 2006.

According to the official Miss World website, Pyszkova is a Czech model currently pursuing degrees in law and business administration. She is also the founder of the Krystyna Pyszko Foundation, advocating for sustainable development through education.

Her notable achievements include opening an English school for underprivileged children in Tanzania, where she volunteered. Pyszkova is fluent in English, Polish, Slovak, and German languages, and she has a passion for music and art, having spent nine years in an art academy.

India, hosting the event after 28 years, was represented by Sini Shetty, crowned Femina Miss India World in 2022. Despite India's history of success in the pageant, with six previous titleholders, Shetty was bested by Zaytoun, who claimed the last spot in the top 4.

The 71st Miss World pageant, featuring contestants from 112 countries, took place at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC. The panel of judges included notable personalities from various fields such as film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, actors Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde, cricketer Harbhajan Singh, news personality Rajat Sharma, social worker Amruta Fadnavis, and others. The event was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and former Miss World Megan Young, with performances by singers Shaan, Neha Kakkar, and Tony Kakkar.

The pageant emphasized the importance of 'beauty with purpose', as highlighted in a video message by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a former Miss World. The event also featured a special appearance by the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," along with fast-track Miss World contestants, showcasing the show's newly released song "Sakal Ban".

The Miss World contest commenced with "The Opening Ceremony" and "India Welcomes the World Gala" organized by the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in New Delhi on February 20.
