Nottingham Forest advanced past Championship side Bristol City in a thrilling penalty shootout, securing a spot in the FA Cup fifth round where they will face Manchester United.
The decisive moment came when Taiwo Awoniyi converted the winning penalty for the hosts, after Sam Bell's attempt was saved by Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner. Earlier in the match, Divock Origi had put Forest ahead with a close-range effort, only for Jason Knight to equalize six minutes later.
Despite numerous chances for both teams throughout the match and extra time, neither side could find a breakthrough until the dramatic shootout.
The intensity of the game was fueled by controversy, as Bristol City believed Origi had used his hand to score his goal, following Felipe's near-post flick. The Robins responded swiftly, with Knight capitalizing on a rebound to level the score.
Although Bristol City had periods of dominance, forcing Turner into several saves, Forest rallied with key substitutions, including Callum Hudson-Odoi, Neco Williams, Awoniyi, and Nuno Tavares, who made significant impacts.
While Forest had opportunities to secure the win, Bristol City also missed chances in extra time, with Tavares denying a certain goal and Harry Cornick failing to convert a late cross from Wells.
