iPhone 16 Pro's Alleged DSLR-Like Capture Button

iPhone 16 Pro's Alleged DSLR-Like Capture Button

Reports from last year suggested that Apple might introduce a dedicated capture button for the iPhone 16 Pro models. Recent leaks from Weibo, echoing previous information, provide further details about this potential feature.

According to a Weibo user known as 'Instant Digital,' Apple is considering implementing a two-step shutter button to emulate the functionality of DSLR or mirrorless cameras. Pressing the button halfway would allow users to adjust the focus, similar to a traditional camera, while a full press would capture the photo or initiate video recording.

Notable sources, including Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, have acknowledged the existence of this button, strengthening the likelihood of its inclusion in the iPhone 16 Pro.

Last month, The Information also reported similar information, citing sources familiar with the development of the iPhone 16 series. They suggested that the capture button could have additional functions, such as touch sensitivity for zooming and the ability to half-press to focus.

While these reports indicate some credibility to the rumor, the official launch of the iPhone 16 series is still months away. Apple may adjust the design and features during the development process, so plans could change before mass production begins.
