MediaTek Dimensity 8300 and 9300 chips now support Gemini Nano

The integration of Gemini Nano, Google's multimodal AI platform, into MediaTek's Dimensity 8300 and 9300 chips marks a significant development in the smartphone industry. With this update, devices powered by these chipsets will be able to leverage Gemini AI features, enhancing their capabilities in terms of AI processing.

Google collaborated with MediaTek, utilizing its NeuroPilot toolkit to enable Gemini Nano support on the Dimensity 8300 and 9300 chips. While these chipsets already had AI processing capabilities, the addition of Gemini Nano further enhances their functionality.

For OEMs using these chips, implementing Gemini Nano's on-device model brings several benefits. Firstly, it eliminates the need for developing a separate cloud-based processing ecosystem for AI capabilities, resulting in cost savings and streamlined development processes.

Additionally, MediaTek plans to release an APK in collaboration with Google to assist developers in integrating Gemini Nano support into future devices, further facilitating adoption.

Although a specific timeline for the release of this APK has not been provided, this development has the potential to reshape how manufacturers approach the integration of AI features in their devices. As more devices adopt Gemini Nano support, it could lead to accelerated adoption and innovation in the smartphone industry.
