Android 15 Developer Preview 1 is out for the Pixel 6 and up

The Android 15 Developer Preview has been released, initiating an ~8-month-long beta process for the new major OS version. This preview is available for Pixel 6, 7, and 8, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet, marking the potential end of major OS support for the Pixel 5 and 5a series.

Some notable features include "partial screen sharing," allowing users to share or record individual app windows, improved camera controls for apps, and "dynamic performance" controls to address phone overheating.

The release introduces an API supporting the Linux kernel's fs-verity feature for enhanced security against malware or unauthorized file modifications. Google plans at least six developer releases, with the first beta expected in April and the final release after July. More details will be revealed with the official documentation and subsequent beta releases.
