Sheffield United vs Manchester United Premier League Match Report 2023

Sheffield United vs Manchester United Premier League Match Report 2023

Diogo Dalot came to the rescue as Manchester United left it late to beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane.

The Portuguese right-back picked up the ball on the edge of the box before perfectly whipping his effort into the top right corner to give United an incredibly important three points in the Premier League.

Scott McTominay continued his brilliant goalscoring form as he put the visitors ahead with a scuffed effort into the bottom right corner. But he was then the reason for the Blades' equaliser as he gave away a relatively soft handball in the penalty area. Oli McBurnie then dispatched a perfect penalty past Andre Onana.

Erik ten Hag's men struck the woodwork twice as Bruno Fernandes' excellent freekick attempt skimmed the top of the bar in the first half before Amrabat thought he had his first goal in a Man United shirt but his thunderous strike rocketed off the bar. However, they still failed to conjure up many goalscoring opportunities.

It does seem as though results are more important than performances for Ten Hag and their win against the Blades sees them pick up back-to-back league victories.

Sheffield United vs Man United live updates, highlights from Premier League match

Sheffield United 1-2 Man United

95th minute: That's all from Sheffield as Dalot's late goal ends up being the winner! It was a fine strike and a goal worthy of winning all three points in what was a rather dull affair.

91st minute: Garnacho blasts a shot wide but luckily for him, he was in an offside position anyway.

89th minute: There will be five minutes added on by the fourth official.

87th minute: Mount replaces Marcus Rashford for Man United.

77th minute: GOAL! It's Dalot with a delicious strike to give United the lead. He's on the edge of the box and he whips a right-footed strike into the top right corner.

67th minute: CLOSE! Amrabat rockets an effort off the bar from distance. It's just not their night tonight.

63rd minute: Arguably the only players that are capable of scoring goals for United at the minute, have been substituted. McTominay and Hojlund make way for Garnacho and Eriksen.

58th minute: Fernandes finds Rashford down the left who just snatches at his shot as it flashes across the face of goal and out for a goal kick.

53rd minute: Maguire takes a huge risk by shoving James McAtee in the box but Michael Oliver waves play on.

46th minute: The second half is underway!

HT: That's it for the first-half action and Sheffield United will be delighted with their performance. They've shaken the visitors and yet again Erik ten Hag's men look second best.

41st minute: United have now conceded a goal within six minutes of scoring after six of their last 14 goals.

34th minute: McBurnie converts! He could not have placed that much better.

31st minute: From hero to zero! McTominay gifts Blades a penalty with a handball in the box.

28th minute: GOAL! McTominay again for United. He's scored each of their last three goals. Fernandes fires a ball into his chest and takes one touch before scuffing his effort into the ground but more importantly the bottom right corner.

25th minute: Another wonderful opportunity for Blades as they test Onana again. Archer's effort is struck well but the Cameroonian goalkeeper matches the strike with a dive.

21st minute: Onana is down and struggling as he receives treatment. Bayindir is on the bench and warming up but it looks as though the first-choice goalkeeper for United is going to continue.

19th minute: It may have been two weeks since that remarkable comeback against Brentford but it's the same Man United. They've been slow and have looked puzzled at times.

12th minute: The visitors are struggling to get into this match and the Blades crowd are loving it.

4th minute: A great opportunity for the Blades! CHANCE! Archer gets in behind the Red Devils' defence before Hamer's right-footed strike deflects off Maguire. The ball then falls to McBurnie, who can only shoot straight at Onana despite being unmarked inside the area. He really should have scored.

1st minute: We are underway at Bramall Lane!
