• Successful bloggers know how to promote their blogs and get traffic from it. If you’re not familiar with all of the different ways to promote your blog, you may feel like you’re missing out on opportunities to drive targeted traffic and grow your audience.
Create something worth sharing
  • Guest posting is one of the most powerful ways to promote your blog, but it's also the hardest one because it usually requires you to get past a blogger's gatekeeper.
  • To get past them, offer some fresh or unique content that they can't find elsewhere and sell yourself by highlighting why you're a good fit for their audience.
  • Use other people's articles to reach new readers.
Get your first 1,000 visitors
  • Promoting your blog is the key to getting traffic and making a profit. Luckily, there are many ways to promote your blog, so it won’t be hard at all.
  • You can spend money on marketing tools, write guest blogs and contribute content, or put time and energy into engaging with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. All these methods work well together.
Start guest blogging
  • Guest blogging is a great way to expose your work to the readers of another website. They allow you-unpaid-to publish a post about something you want them to know about, and in return, you might be able to earn links back from that blog.
  • Alternatively, if someone with an established audience offers a guest post on their site and you're well known in your community as well, that might be worth doing too.
Boost your social media presence
  • If you're going to use social media as a way of promoting your blog, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are great places to start.
  • However, depending on what you're writing about, sites like Reddit and Tumblr might also be good places to engage with your community and attract new readers.
  • Since Instagram and Snapchat tend to be more visual in nature, they are typically better options if you want to post pictures or videos that drive people towards your blog posts.
Manage your emails
  • Once you start receiving more emails and people are actually interested in what you have to say, it's important to get a handle on your inbox.
  • To avoid missing out on any messages, sort your email by sender first or subject line if necessary. Take care of the really urgent ones right away and save those that are less time-sensitive for later.
Boost with ads (and which ones!)
  • Boosting your blog with ads can be a daunting task, but one that's worth considering. As you might imagine, boosting traffic with ads will depend heavily on which kind of ad you're running and how much money you're willing to spend.
  • With Google Ads, it's possible to run ads at the top and bottom of your blog posts as well as sidebar ads.
  • Depending on the keyword density in the post and what people are searching for online, this could be an excellent option.
