Robot dogs and flying cars, five gadget at MWC 2024

At the four-day Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, tech companies unveiled a plethora of connected gadgets, showcasing innovation across various sectors. Here are some notable highlights from the event:

World's First Flying Car

Alef Aeronautics, a US firm, revealed the working model of what it claims to be the world’s first functional flying car. This electric-powered vehicle has received airworthiness certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Capable of transporting two individuals up to approximately 110 miles, production of the final version is expected to commence by the end of 2025, with nearly 3,000 pre-orders already placed at a price of $300,000.

Robotic Dog

Tecno Mobile, a Chinese company, unveiled a robotic dog inspired by the German Shepherd. Equipped with AI and advanced sensors, this robotic companion responds to voice commands and performs lifelike actions such as shaking hands, bowing, and climbing stairs. Controlled via smartphone apps, the "Dynamic 1" aims to offer the joys of pet ownership without the associated hassles.

Transparent Laptop

Lenovo, a Chinese manufacturer, introduced a prototype of a laptop featuring a 17.3-inch transparent glass screen, providing a borderless and see-through display experience.

Instead of a conventional keyboard, it offers a touch surface for projected keys or pen input. While no release date has been announced, the screen's transparency can be adjusted for privacy.

AI-Powered Companion Doll

Hyodol, created by a South Korean company, is an AI-powered doll designed for seniors. Equipped with sensors and AI processors, it can play music, remind users to take medication, and notify guardians of inactivity. Standing 35 centimeters tall, Hyodol is intended to provide companionship and support independence for seniors.

Impaired Speech Voice Converter

Dutch startup Whispp demonstrated a calling app utilizing AI to convert impaired speech, such as that resulting from throat cancer or stroke, into the user's natural voice in real time. Unlike text-based solutions, this app allows for natural conversation, enabling users to communicate comfortably and inclusively.

These innovations represent strides in technology aimed at enhancing various aspects of daily life, from transportation and communication to companionship and accessibility.
