Nubia Flip 5G Launched at MWC 2024

At the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC) event in Barcelona on Tuesday (February 27), Nubia introduced its inaugural foldable smartphone, the Nubia Flip 5G, marking the brand's entry into the foldable device market. 

This clamshell foldable showcases a 6.9-inch foldable OLED display boasting a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. Notably, the Nubia Flip 5G is equipped with a 4,310mAh battery, supporting 33W fast charging. Upon release, it is poised to rival competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, and Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G.

The Nubia Flip 5G is priced competitively, starting at $599 (approximately Rs. 50,000), positioning it as a budget-friendly option within the foldable phone category. 

By comparison, Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5, with a similar vertical display orientation, begins at $999 (around Rs. 82,000) in the US, while the Oppo Find N3 Flip carries a starting price of CNY 6,799 (about Rs. 77,000) in China. Meanwhile, Motorola's Razr 40 starts at EUR 900 (roughly Rs. 80,000) in Europe.

While the retail price of the Nubia Flip 5G may vary across different markets, specifics regarding its availability have yet to be disclosed by Nubia.

In terms of specifications, the Nubia Flip 5G boasts a 6.9-inch foldable OLED display with a resolution of 1,188 x 2,790 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Additionally, it features a 1.43-inch cover screen with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, allowing users to access various applications without unfolding the device. 

Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, the phone offers 6GB or 8GB of RAM coupled with 128GB or 256GB of storage. Notably, it incorporates a dual-rail suspended hinge capable of enduring over 200,000 unfolds.

For photography enthusiasts, the Nubia Flip 5G sports a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup, while for selfies and video calls, it boasts a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The device is fueled by a 4,310mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
