Lenovo's Transparent Display Laptop and AI PCs Launched at MWC 2024

At the Mobile World Congress 2024, Lenovo, a leading PC manufacturer, revealed a groundbreaking laptop featuring a transparent display, aimed at revolutionizing work dynamics.

The showcased ThinkBook laptop is a proof-of-concept model equipped with a borderless 17.3-inch Micro-LED transparent display. Notably, it incorporates a glass keyboard, which serves a dual purpose as a drawing pad, complemented by a digital pen provided by Lenovo.

The transparent display enables users to perceive real-world objects or surroundings while overlaying digital content atop them, opening up avenues for innovative computer usage scenarios. For instance, artists can leverage mixed reality applications by visualizing objects behind the laptop and seamlessly incorporating digital drawings and enhancements.

Although not intended for commercial release, the laptop serves as a demonstration of Lenovo's prowess in technological innovation and development.

Tom Butler, Executive Director of Lenovo's commercial notebook portfolio, emphasized that if the laptop were to be commercialized, Lenovo would integrate the capability to switch the display from transparent to opaque.

In addition to the futuristic laptop, Lenovo and Motorola introduced a foldable smartphone designed to be flexibly worn on the wrist or elsewhere. Leveraging Lenovo's advancements in display and mechanical engineering for foldable devices, this smartphone offers versatile usage possibilities.

Furthermore, Lenovo unveiled a lineup of AI-powered PCs, including the ThinkPad T14 i Gen 5, ThinkPad T14s Gen 5, ThinkPad T16 Gen 3, ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2, and ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 4. These PCs are equipped with AI hardware, featuring Intel Core Ultra processors, and software, running Windows 11. Notably, they come with a dedicated AI key for Microsoft Copilot AI assistants. The AI-powered PCs are slated to commence shipping in the Spring.
