Deadpool and Wolverine First Trailer

Deadpool and Wolverine First Trailer

After nearly six years and a transition to Disney following the end of Fox's "X-Men" movies, Deadpool has made his return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trailer for "Deadpool and Wolverine" debuted at the 2024 Super Bowl, featuring Ryan Reynolds' Merc With a Mouth alongside Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, last seen in 2017's "Logan."

The trailer showcases the Time Variance Authority, previously seen in "Loki" Season 2, kidnapping Deadpool during his birthday celebration, introducing him to the MCU. Deadpool, self-dubbed "Marvel Jesus," promises to bring his R-rated humor and fourth-wall-breaking antics to Disney's family-friendly brand. While Wolverine's face remains unseen, his presence is felt, with Deadpool facing off against him in the trailer's climax, revealing only Wolverine's shadow.

Production on "Deadpool 3" faced a four-month halt due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, resulting in a release date shift from May 3 to July 26. The first "Deadpool" focused on the anti-hero seeking revenge against Ajax, while the second installment had Deadpool organizing the X-Force team against time-traveling soldier Cable.

"Deadpool 2" set records in 2018, opening with $18.6 million in North America, following the success of the first film, which domestically debuted at $132.4 million, a record for an R-rated film.

Looking ahead, "Deadpool 3" director Shawn Levy teased an homage to the "Star Wars" franchise in the upcoming movie, describing a scene inspired by a memorable moment from the iconic series.
